Today’s Tarot Card for July 1 is The Magician

The Magician

This Tarot Deck: Winged Spirit Tarot

General Meaning: Traditionally, the Magus is one who can demonstrate hands-on magic — as in healing, transformative rituals, alchemical transmutations, charging of talismans and the like. A modern Magus is any person who completes the circuit between heaven and Earth, one who seeks to bring forth the divine ‘gold’ within her or himself.

At the birth of Tarot, even a gifted healer who was not an ordained clergyman was considered to be in league with the Devil! For obvious reasons, the line between fooling the eye with sleight of hand, and charging the world with magical will was not clearly differentiated in the early Tarot cards.

Waite’s image of the Magus as the solitary ritualist communing with the spirits of the elements — with its formal arrangement of symbols and postures — is a token of the freedom we have in modern times to declare our spiritual politics without fear of reprisal. The older cards were never so explicit about what the Magus was doing. It’s best to keep your imagination open with this card. Visualize yourself manifesting something unique, guided by evolutionary forces that emerge spontaneously from within your soul.

Daily Horoscopes for Friday, July 1

The nurturing Cancer New Moon at 4:53 am EDT is a Solar Eclipse, marking a powerful turning point in our relationships. The eclipse’s stressful aspects to radical Uranus, karmic Saturn and intense Pluto raise the stakes in every emotional interaction. We may feel as if we’re being bounced around in stormy seas, yet our flexibility helps us conserve our energy for later. Patience may be our best strategy when responding to these strong currents.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

The resistance you face can stop you in your tracks today, but it’s crucial that you don’t give up on a good idea. If you initially miss the lesson you’re being taught, slow down and listen carefully to what’s being said. The obstacles are more easily handled once you accept that they are there for a reason. Ironically, it’s less important to reach your destination now than it is to fine-tune your plans.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

Although you probably have a very busy day ahead of you, it still may be hard to get going. Even after you begin your day’s work, you’re tempted to get by with doing less. But your energy builds and you’ll be ready to overcome anything that stands in your path once you find your pace. Just remember that you’re not the only one with an ambitious agenda. Getting the facts from another point of view can change your perspective and increase your options.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

It’s tempting to waste the day running around in circles just trying to keep up with everything. But you may not get anywhere unless you’re willing to take some time for contemplation today. Be careful, for your current strategy should not be thought of as a retreat. You must stabilize the progress you already made because you could jeopardize your success if you continue to move too fast. Remember, reaching your goals is more like running a marathon than a sprint.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Today’s Solar Eclipse can be a harbinger of an energetic shift within your family. You could bury your head in the sand and be totally surprised by what happens, or you can co-create your future by living the change you seek. Start by sitting down and writing a list of resolutions, as if it is New Year’s Day. Focusing your intentions during the eclipse plants significant seeds of thought in your fertile imagination.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Today’s Solar Eclipse falls in your 12th House of Endings, revealing an unusual blending of two cycles, since the New Moon is like a fresh start. But beginning something new prior to completing old business can be problematic. Allow the current process to play out naturally or you might miss your chance. Your best bet is to stay aware of the interrelationship between what you are finishing and what you want to do next.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You may feel isolated today as the moody Cancer Eclipse shakes your 11th House of Community. At first, people that you usually count on are not as accessible as you wish. Fortunately, your true friends will come through just in time with the support that you need. Don’t draw the wrong conclusions prematurely; give others the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming the worst.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You feel the pressure to make a career move today as the Solar Eclipse activates your professional 10th house. But a minor family crisis may add stress to your day, especially if you’re already not seeing eye to eye with another family member. You might not be happy about how someone tries to control the situation now, but you should heed the smart advice, rather than throwing out an idea just because it makes you uncomfortable.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

This caring New Moon Eclipse in softhearted Cancer helps you build emotional continuity, although it may come with a component of drama. You may be happy to know who you are and where you are heading. But your perspective can be so intense that you feel as if you must stand up for your beliefs. You need to tread extra carefully now, for you could inadvertently provoke a conflict by resorting to aggressive behavior. Try channeling your passion into physical activities instead.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You might be a bit uncertain as today’s Solar Eclipse evokes a sense of discomfort by pushing you to explore feelings that you would rather forget. Don’t belittle a friend’s melodrama by judging it as unimportant just so you don’t have to get involved. Your willingness to partake in a meaningful dialogue may be just what’s needed to take a relationship to a new level of intimacy.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

An overly emotional interaction with a friend or partner today reveals that he or she has more going on now than you previously thought. You can tell that there’s a suppressed power issue in the background, but you don’t know what to do about the imbalance. If you confront it head-on, you could make matters worse. But if you let it slide, you may end up contributing to the weird energy. The conversation might be awkward at first, but if you can talk about your uneasiness without blaming anyone else you will be able to make a positive difference.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You don’t think that you’re harboring any resentments about your job, but it’s still not easy to let go of an unresolved hurt. Fortunately, you have a pretty good grasp of the source of your current negativity and it’s up to you now to clear the air. Be open to receiving helpful support from those who love you. Leaning on your friends and family gives you the strength to process your feelings and get on with the real work at hand.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You can finally stand firmly on the ground again after an extended period of uncertainty. But things are not as they seem and your foundation might not be as strong as you once thought. Don’t get hooked into overcompensating today; there’s really no good reason to flaunt your confidence. Nothing is gained by setting up a competitive dynamic where others are threatened by your success. Softening your stance now helps to relieve tensions and bring harmony back into your relationships.

Weekend Lunar Love Horoscopes for July 1 – 3

Weekend Love: Lunar Love

by Jeff Jawer

New Moon, New Approach

July 1 – 3

The weekend starts off with a cosmic Big Bang as the Cancer New Moon on Friday morning is a powerful Solar Eclipse. The safety and security sought in this sensitive sign may be hard to locate with shocking Uranus probing Pluto and constraining Saturn making tense contacts to this Sun-Moon conjunction.

Were not likely to find much comfort as sudden changes of circumstances and shifting moods have destabilizing effects. Unresolved emotional issues that have long been kept under wraps may surface and trigger very strong feelings. Blame, pity and guilt often arrive under these planetary conditions, yet they need to be gently set aside as none help relieve suffering or restore trust. Taking responsibility for ourselves with a commitment to learn and grow is a much more rewarding response that can put a relationship back on more solid ground.

Although the bigger issues that have been awakened arent going to disappear overnight, the Moons shift into enthusiastic Leo will brighten the mood on Saturday. Its a time to look forward with creativity and confidence rather than looking back with trepidation, fearing the past will repeat itself.

Celebrating life with an open heart and a generous spirit allows us to give more to others and receive more in return. Pride might become a stumbling block if we take ourselves too seriously now. We can be competent without keeping score so carefully that we start competing with one another. Adopting a playful approach to our relationships helps to heal wounded hearts and begins the process of restoring more joy to our personal lives.

New Moon Report for July 1 – Mercury in Leo

Mercury in Leo

Friday, July 1, 10:38 pm PDT, Saturday, July 2, 1:38 am EDT

The communication planet is enriched with greater creativity and boldness now. Self-expression grows more dramatic, sometimes to effectively make a valid point or grandstand with immature insecurity. The potential for original thought grows when we take our ideas seriously, but take ourselves lightly. This way the focus is on the expressive and entertaining sides of Leo, rather than on the need to inflate our egos.

New Moon for July 1 – New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

Friday, July 1, 1:54 am PDT, 4:54 am EDT

This New Moon in protective Cancer is a very powerful Solar Eclipse. Instead of planting seeds of security in our gardens of desire, we are challenged to break up the old soil of expectations about what will make us safe and happy. Cancer wants closeness and continuity but eclipses break patterns, especially when forming stressful 90-degree squares with volatile Uranus. Yet while Uranus sparks surprises, constraining Saturn and transformational Pluto also form tense aspects to the New Moon. Pressure is building that can affect major institutions, individuals and the environment and is best met with innovation, passion and commitment. Being a well-prepared and patient agent of change will radically improve lives while desperately holding onto the past can be futile and frustrating.

We may feel a sense of loss or disorientation with this Solar Eclipse, but it is time to burn some bridges with the past. However, we don’t need to erase all memories of what has come before. This New Moon is a clear signal that bold methods and beliefs are more likely to sustain personal growth and collective survival than returning to outmoded ideas.

the daily humorscopes for friday, july 1

the daily humorscope

Friday, July 01, 2011

Aries (March 21 – April 19)
You will discover that you can raise one eyebrow by itself, but not the other. This will aggravate you, and you’ll spend the majority of the day in front of the bathroom mirror, trying to correct the situation.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Someone you’ve never met will come up and nudge you today. You don’t have to stand for that, though, and you should just nudge them right back.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Fungus day today. Interestingly, you will discover that in order to engage in mycological research, you need go no further than your toes…
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
The phrase “return your tray tables to the upright and locked position” will cycle endlessly through your mind, today. It’s not serious. (But you should probably consider cutting down on the honey-roasted peanuts.)
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
You will be misidentified, on national TV, as a renowned ichthyologist. Several people will call you, long distance, to ask about the mating habits of Tilapia.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
You’ve been a little down lately, and it’s time to snap out of it! You’ve got to smell the roses while there’s time, since you’re not going to live forever. Which is good, since you’re already seeing hair in funny places…
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Someone you don’t like will make repeated attempts to talk to you today. The best way to handle this is to stuff extremely crunchy food in your mouth during each attempt, and then mumble “What?” while looking at something slightly over their left shoulder.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Nobody will notice your new haircut, which you will find intensely irritating. It’s not as if you always had an iridescent green mohawk, you know?
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Despite protests from a variety of organizations, you will organize a charity event called a “squid fling”. Due in part to excellent media coverage, you will be quite successful. Mostly, though, you will succeed because nearly everyone has a secret desire to fling a squid.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 20)
You still have way too much to do. You always have too much to do. If you were any more behind, you would be able to kick yourself. Ever try saying “no”? Sheesh.
Aquarius (January 21 – February 18)
While attempting to stifle a yawn today, you will accidentally make a loud “smooching” sound. Try bringing out your pager, and saying “these new models sure have some interesting sound options, don’t they?” I find that works well with several other forms of involuntary noises, as well.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
You’ve always felt, like Emerson, that the unexaminged life is not worth living. There’s no need to use a microscope, however.
