Day 18 – 21
The full moon is shrinking and rises now in the mid-evening, setting in the middle of the next morning, being visible for much  of the time.
Use the decreasing full moon for protection of home, self and love ones, for banishing bad habits, phobias and fears, for  ending a long-standing destructive or abusive relationship, for relieving acute pain and fighting viruses and for leaving behind the past that holds us back  from happiness.

This moon rises about midnight and sets around midday the next day. She is visible for the whole time she is in the sky.
Use for protection while travelling, especially at night, from fears that wake us in the night, from phantoms and nightmares,  for reducing major debts, for concerns about older people, for mending quarrels and for avoiding intrusion of privacy, for peaceful divorce and for relieving  stress.
Day 23 is an important time for healing and day 25 for all women’s petitions and needs.

The Balsamic or Waning Crescent Moon

Days 26 – 28 and day 29 when relevant.
The Balsamic Moon rises before dawn(after the midnight of its day) and sets at mid-afternoon of the following day. She is best  seen in the eastern sky in the dawn and very early morning.
Use the Waning Crescent for quiet sleep if you are an insominiac, for peace of mind if you have been anxious or depressed, for  protection from crime and harm, for the easing of addictions, for saying goodbye fondly and for finding what is lost or has been stolen – also the dark of  the moon for the latter.

This phase occurs when the Moon grows from dark to full. In this phase, the Moon provides the proper energy for magickal  efforts requiring growth or enhancement. It is a good time for beginnings, fresh starts and new love and is of benefit in building, businesses, friendships,  partnerships, and financial prosperity. The waxing phase also provides suitable conditions for planting herbs, developing psychism, and increasing physical  health and well-being.

The shrinkage of the Moon from full to dark is called the waning phase, and it offers an energy suitable for recession,  peaceful separation or elimination. Use the waning Moon to end undesirable eating patterns, break bad habits or to remove yourself from dysfunctional  partnerships or stressful situations. Its energies favor any magickal effort requiring decrease or removal.

Oh Aging One of grace, now hear:

The Moon’s energy is most intense when She reaches abundant fullness. Any magickal effort, especially difficult ones,  can benefit greatly from the potency of this phase. Use the full Moon to amplify magickal intent and to give spellworkings additional power.

Sweet Venus, the planet of love, pleasure, art, beauty and self-worth, has been backpedaling in non-committal (or is it multi-committal) Gemini since May 15, and it finally turns forward on June 27.
We may have been spinning our wheels in relationships during this period, as finding traction to put a current alliance on track or to find a new one is often difficult during Venus Retrograde. The slipperiness of this cycle was greased even more in the adaptable sign of the Twins. Making serious choices in matters of the heart has been a confusing process.

Venus also relates to attraction, including money, making this another area of complexity since mid-May. Expenses and income may fluctuate wildly or, for those in more stable financial situations, attitudes about material resources may have been shifting from hope to doubt and back to hope again. One’s sense of self-worth, another Venusian subject, was probably also on a ferris wheel of ups and downs for the past six weeks or so.

There is a purpose, though, to retrograde periods. They provide a second chance to address matters that require further consideration. Experiencing a wide gamut of thoughts and feelings about relationships and resources may not appear to settle these questions at first, but it can broaden the range of inquiry, leading to better educated decisions later. Sometimes circling a serious issue several times is what it takes to see the whole picture before we’re able to make a meaningful choice.

Sociable Venus will be skittering along in Gemini — which is great for flirting — until August 6, when she enters cuddly, caring and self-protective Cancer. Until then, though, it’s worthwhile to taste various flavors of fun, explore entertaining ideas and start playing with diverse approaches to love. While these may still feel more like meanderings than meaningful activities, we’re expanding the number of ways in which pleasure and partnership can satisfying, even temporarily, our needs.

Choice is a particularly important subject now because philosophical Jupiter entered Gemini last month and will reside in this bubbly sign for a year. Usually, truth-seeking Jupiter prefers one overarching belief system or philosophy to answer life’s biggest questions. But now that it’s in the butterfly sign of the Twins, the road to wisdom is likely to branch off in numerous directions.

The downside of this is mealy-mouthed politicians and coy corporate shills, whose truths vary from moment to moment as suits their needs. Yet while we may mock them for the superficiality, it is a similar lightness that will help us discover new aspects of ourselves and ways to find love and purpose.

Drawing Down The Moon

This ritual is a common one among Witches and Wiccans and should be part of any practitioners repertoire as well. It is a way of drawing  Moon energy into yourself and connecting with the divine. There are as many ways to perform this ritual as there are practitioners. Here is one way:
Go outside during a Full Moon and stand or sit quietly for a few minutes until you feel the Moon energy vibrating all around  you. You might want to place a mirror in front of you to reflect the moonlight, but it isn’t required. Welcome the Goddess into your Spirit and say  something like the following:
Mother Moon both strong and bright
Fill me up with Goddess light.
When you feel full of the Moon’s power, the ritual is complete.

While the dark-of-the-moon vibes are intense – suggesting the need to complete old business on a high note – Vesta forms an inspirational, 72-degree rapport with Chiron (3:08AM PDT). Thus, despite the strange morning atmosphere, you may be able to find ways to increase the value of your investments.  The main event of the morning is the second New Moon of Gemini (following the previous one back on May 20) – this one energizing 29 degrees and happening at 8:03AM PDT. This would normally suggest the need to take a great leap forward immediately, but instead the Moon enters a void cycle that lasts until 10:35AM PDT when the lunar orb shifts into its natural abode of watery Cancer.  This 10:35AM PDT shift of the Moon begins a 2+ day lunar cycle that places an emphasis on home and family matters. Nostalgic interests wax in power and you may have an urge to research your ancestral tree. Cooking, baking, gardening and water sports (weather-permitting) are back in vogue.  Mercury shows off its strength by forming a parallel with the Sun (12:22PM PDT) and making a supportive, 60-degree rapport with Vesta (8:51PM PDT). Business opportunities are ripe for the picking.  Love bonds receive a temporary, positive jolt as Mars makes a supportive, 60-degree link to Juno (9:57PM PDT). However, because tomorrow morning brings in a provocative Venus-Pluto aspect, it is best to keep a low profile overnight and be extra kind to dear ones on the ropes.
