Dressing a candle

Dressing a candle

Candles have been used for many years in rituals, to set an atmosphere and help to focus on a desired result of a the ritual. Here are steps to to take when dressing a candle for a ritual or for requesting a desired result. When working with candles, you will see that no two candles are alike, they each have their own character. (drip, flame, sound )

* Choose the candle to be used : type and color ( green for money, black/ white for cleansing).

* Cleanse the candle from prior energies. Here are some suggestions for cleansing:

A: Holy water

B: Sea salt

C: Pure soap

D: Baby oil

* Bless / Consecrate your oil to be used.

* State and engrave (if desired) what the candle is to represent (money, love, job, taking away unwanted habits, etc.)

* Anoint the candle with the oil you have chosen (it is important to focus on your desire when doing this).

A: — To achieve : start on the top to the middle in a downward motion(stop) then go the bottom to the middle in an upward motion(stop).

B: — To banish : start in the middle to top (stop) then go from the middle to the bottom (stop). Do not use a back and forth motion, it defeats the purpose.

* Bless / Consecrate the candle. Your candle is now ready to use. Light your candle with an incense of your desire or deity. Do not use matches, a lighter or incense should be used. honestly I know not why, just that the sulfur is the problem. But every book I have read states this, and I have read many.)

Meditate as long as possible (many don’t have a lot of time past 15min.) on your desired outcome while your candle is burning. Let the candle burn till the end.

If and when you need to extinguish your candle, snuff it out or swipe your hand enough to let the air blow it out. Do not blow or pinch it out. As blowing it out blows your desires away from you and pinching it out also pinches out your desires.

Feast of the Fallen Warriors

Color:Red
Element: Fire
Altar: On a red cloth place a helmet over a skull. Set out four red candles and two crossed swords.
Offerings: Candles. Written names of fallen warriors of the past, especially in one’s family.
Daily Meal: Simple, plain food.

Invocation to the Fallen Warriors

Your blood lies spilled
Across all the lands of the world.
You stood and faced the enemy,
Whoever they were,
And perhaps you saw yourself
In his face,
And perhaps you did not.
Perhaps you fought
To save your kin and clan,
Perhaps for greed,
Perhaps for money,
Perhaps out of loyalty
To those you followed.
Whatever the reason,
You acquitted yourselves bravely
And did what you had to do
When it seemed right.
May your spirits rest peacefully,
And know we do not forget your glory.

(Chant in wordless harmonies as the swords are unsheathed, crossed in an arch over the altar, and resheathed again. All bow to the altar and extinguish the candles.)

USING CANDLES

USING CANDLES

Candles are usually dressed before they are used. I do not usually use this method, however and I have found that I get the same results by just rubbing the candle. Oils must be consecrated before they are used. Use oils to dress the candles by finding one that coincides with the spell you want to perform. Rub the candle with the oils. Later, if you like, you may roll the candle in herbs that also will help with the type of spell you wish to perform.

To draw something toward you, rub the candle in a downward motion from the top to the middle. Then rub from the bottom up to the middle as well.

To repel something, reverse by rubbing from the middle to the ends.

NEVER RUB IN A BACK AND FORTH MOTION: it negates the entire process.

When finished, dab some of the remaining oil on your third eye and then in the center of your breastbone. Speak words of power over the candle such as:

I cleanse and consecrate this taper in the name of the God and

Goddess. May it burn in strength in the service of light.

Continue by stating the purpose of the candle.

When inscribing a candle, use the same directional procedure. To bring things toward you, write from the top to the middle, then from the bottom to the middle. If you are repelling something, reverse the procedure. The athame is used to carve the inscription.

Colors: Red, orange, yellow, gold
Element: Fire
Altar: Set with a handwoven cloth in solar colors into which is woven a great sun, and place upon is fire-colored dragons and a figure of Amaterasu the Sun Goddess, and many candles.
Offerings: Rice crackers, cooked rice dyed with saffron, paper origami figures.

Invocation to Amaterasu

Summer’s Joy
Queen of the Sky
Giver of Life
To our entire world
Weaver of sunbeams
Into golden robes of finery
Which you drape over us
Each time we emerge
Into your sacred light.
Laugh, Queen of Day!
Laugh and let your delicate
Fingers play across our eyes
That we may blink, and sting
The tears from them,
And open them again to see
Your golden world break
Over the eastern horizon.

Chant: Omikami Omikami Arigato Omikami

(Each person takes a candle and a procession is led from the room, which divides into several groups. Each group goes to a different room in the building and shines the light of their candle into all dark places, corners, closets, under beds and in drawers, bringing light and the gaze of Amaterasu into all places. Then the candles are returned to Her altar to burn down, and are not snuffed until sunset.)

To Return a Hex

To Return a Hex

Light three black candles, and as they burn, speak this charm for thrice return:

Broken this spell, broken this curse,
By these candles, by this verse.
Reflected back, three times three,
Your hexes have no effect on me.
Curse return, by candles three,
Burn away and set me free.
Live and learn, crash and burn,
Three times three, this hex return.
With harm to none, this lesson be told;
Whatever is sent out, returns three-fold.

Allow the candles to burn themselves out. Do this five nights in a row, during the Waxing Moon, at dusk – as the sun dies and darkness descends

YOUR HEART’S DESIRE

YOUR HEART’S DESIRE

First, gather a fresh rose and two red candles, and find out the time of sunrise
the next morning. Just before you go to sleep, place a red candle on each side
of the rose. The next morning at sunrise, take the rose outside or sit by an
open window facing east, keeping the rose in front of you. Inhale the perfume
and say aloud:

THIS RED ROSE IF FOR TRUE LOVE
TRUE LOVE COME TO ME.

Now go back indoors and put the rose in it’s original position. Light the
candles and imagine love burning in the heart of the one you long for. Keep the
candles lit day and night until the rose fades (if they are extinguished, the
incantation will be broken). When the rose is dead, pinch out the candles and
bury the rose.

Lady A’s Spell of the Day for July 1: A MIRROR PROTECTION SPELL FOR THE HOME

A MIRROR PROTECTION SPELL FOR THE HOME

Compose an altar: place a censer in the center before an image of the Goddess.
Have a twelve inch (or so) round mirror there as well.
Ring the altar with nine white candles.
Burn a protective incense (such as sandalwood, frankincense, copal, or rosemary) in the censer.
Begin with the candle most directly in front of the Goddess image, saying these or similar words:

Lunar Light Protect Me!

Repeat lighting each candle.
Now say these words holding the mirror and invoking the Goddess in her lunar aspect:

Great Goddess of Lunar Light
and Mistress of the Seas
Great Goddess of the Mystic Night
and of the mysteries;
Within this place of candles bright
and with your mirror nigh;
Protect me with your awesome might
While ill vibrations fly!

Standing before the altar, hold the mirror facing the candles so that it reflects their flames.
Slowly move in a circle keeping the reflection of the candles in the mirror letting the light reflect off your surroundings.
Slowly increase your speed invoking the Goddess as you move faster and faster watch the light as it cleanses removing all negative and energies in your home.
Once finished stand once again infront of the Goddess image and thank her for helping protect you and your belongings.

Meditation to Meet Your Fire Guide

Meditation to Meet Your Fire Guide

Create a simple altar with an orange cloth and a red candle. Use an amber- or wood-scented incense. Take several deep, cleansing breaths. Get comfortable. Focus on your breathing and close your eyes. Visualize the gateway to the elemental realm of fire. Make the gate as strong and elaborate as you wish. How does it open? Take several slow, deep breaths. See the gate open and walk through it. Everything is dark. Before you is a pathway illuminated with candles on each side. It is a broad, safe pathway. Begin to walk down it. Slowly stars become visible in the dark sky. Take a moment to appreciate the twinkling lights. Focus on the candle flames and note that no two candles are exactly alike. They dance in various colors on the tips of the candles. You feel warm, safe and happy. Focus on your breath. Further on down the path you see your elemental guide for the realm of fire. Approach him slowly and greet him warmly. Listen to what he has to say. When you have heard all you wish, thank him and then turn to go back up the path. As your approach the gateway you notice it is still open. Walk through it. Take several slow deep breaths and then open your eyes. Write down all you learned in your journal. Close your personal circle.
