The key to moving through today relatively unscathed is to be fast on your feet and to tap into intuitive flashes guiding you upward and onward – courtesy of a supportive, 60-degree rapport from Mercury in Aquarius to Uranus in Aries (10:27AM PST). Here’s the short list of what is on tap today. The Moon remains void in Pisces until the lunar orb enters fiery, independent and forceful Aries at 10:29AM PST. Mercury squares time-keeper Saturn (1:22AM PST) and makes a supportive, 60-degree alliance with emotionally-empowering Juno (2:51AM PST). Mercury then enters the universal air sign of Aquarius at 10:13AM PST where it will stay until February 13. Meanwhile, Venus is parallel to nurturing Ceres (11:15AM PST), the Moon in Aries unites with revolutionary Uranus (1:40PM PST) and productivity-enhancer Ceres (3:41PM PST) while the Moon moves on to a parallel with recently reversed Mars (7:42PM PST) followed by a potentially fireworks-generating Venus-Mars contra-parallel (8:42PM PST), and the celestial seasonings conclude with a splendid, inspiring Venus-Vesta union in Pisces (9:07PM PST) that can be good for love and money matters. The discord today is coming from challenging aspects such as Mercury square Saturn, the Moon uniting with Uranus and forming a parallel to Mars. Venus-Mars in contra-parallel formation may be another hard-to-handle alignment. Emotions are somewhat frayed and you may need to earn your stripes when it comes to being crystal clear in financial discussions (due to Mercury at odds with Saturn). Surprises and shocks to the system are more likely to occur around the time when the Moon first parallels Uranus (11:25AM PST) and then makes a contra-parallel to Uranus just 12 minutes later (11:37AM PST). It may be difficult to get your bearings on the first day after Mars has turned retrograde. The fact is that Mars isn’t truly retrograding at all; it is virtually motionless and on the verge of reversing direction. The great reality is that when any celestial body is retrograde, it is moving in counterpoint to the motion of the Sun and Moon – which, from our vantage point, always appear to be moving forward in the zodiac. Therefore, Mars becomes somewhat of a maverick, outlaw, rebel or rabble-rouser when viewed from the solar, lunar and earthly perspectives now that it is no longer direct in motion. Thus, acting in an unruly fashion and calling undue attention to yourself are out-of-bounds – unless you are deliberately looking for trouble. Intensity and shock waves are still on center stage because the Sun parallels distant Pluto (1:22AM PST) while Ceres unites with Uranus in Aries (3:08AM PST). The unknown may temporarily be in the catbird seat and circumstances beyond your control are running the show.  Spellcrafting for Tuesday, Jan. 24th

 

SPELL FOR STRESS AND DEPRESSION

Items needed:
White candle (non-dripless variety)
Kunzite or blue agate
Black marker with wide felt tip
Lemon Balm
Lemon oil (the kind used for furniture polish is fine)
Cloth pouch

Begin by completely coloring the candle black with the marker to symbolize the depression that presently encases you. Light the candle and say:

“Flame cut through depression deep,
Melt it down and make it weep.
Grant me power to re-emerge,
From its grip, I leap and surge.”

Watch the candle burn until white wax appears at the flame. Rub a bit of lemon oil into the flame and say:

“Kunzite/agate, stone of mellow hue,
Dissolve this depression, I beg of you.
Take its power and transform its strength
Into positive energy I can use at length.”

Lightly rub the stone against your temples and your heart, then place it in front of the candle and sprinkle it with lemon balm. Let the candle burn completely.

Place the stone and herb in the cloth pouch and carry it with you.
When your spirits need a lift, re-anoint the stone and repeat its empowerment chant.

The New Moon in brainy Aquarius opens minds to fresh ways of seeing and enlightens us with brilliant ideas. Broadening visions of the future can reveal unexpected professional opportunities and help establish strategies for meeting long-term goals. Enthusiasm may rise and fall with skeptical Saturn and optimistic Jupiter’s 90-degree squares to this lunation. A supportive sextile from innovative Uranus in Aries, though, reveals alternative ways to express ourselves and contribute to the well-being of the community.

The Aquarius New Moon is like entering a laboratory where objective thinking permits us to observe life without prejudice or prejudgment. Learning comes with sudden flashes of insight that arise from being in unfamiliar positions.
