Invocation to the Green Man of the Holly Tree

Hail, Green Man of the Summer!
Holly tree of sharpest leaves
Like spearpoints in the forest,
With berries like drops of drawn blood,
You are the tree of weaponry,
The prick of an iron spear,
A swinging sword, the Green Knight’s club
Which is a whole holly-bush.
Charmed by Holda, whose tests
And trials in the underground world
Show the measure of our honor
And the length of our compassion.
Every warrior must have his rules
And bindings, else he turn rabid
And fall on those he protects,
And lose his vision of the humanity
Of other, lesser souls.
You teach us this lesson,
Tree whose color is beaten iron,

(Each comes forward and plants a seed in the pot of soil, saying, “Hail Green Man of the Earth!” Water is poured onto the pot, and then the rest is poured out as a libation. Ring bell and dismiss.)

Altar: Upon a red cloth set the figure of a mountain, with incense coming out the peak, a piece of obsidian, and a bowl of cayenne tea.
Offerings: Sip the cayenne tea as a sacrifice. Deal openly with your anger. This is a propitious day to bring up difficult subjects that may spark argument, as long as the issues are actually resolved, and purifications done afterwards.
Daily Meal: Spicy food.

Drawing Down The Moon

This ritual is a common one among Witches and Wiccans and should be part of any practitioners repertoire as well. It is a way of drawing  Moon energy into yourself and connecting with the divine. There are as many ways to perform this ritual as there are practitioners. Here is one way:
Go outside during a Full Moon and stand or sit quietly for a few minutes until you feel the Moon energy vibrating all around  you. You might want to place a mirror in front of you to reflect the moonlight, but it isn’t required. Welcome the Goddess into your Spirit and say  something like the following:
Mother Moon both strong and bright
Fill me up with Goddess light.
When you feel full of the Moon’s power, the ritual is complete.

By today’s reckoning, July is the seventh month of the year, but this month was not always called July, nor was it always the seventh month. Indeed, its original name in the calendar of Romulus (and later, also of Numa) Quintilis, indicates that it was once the fifth month of the Roman year. Gaius Julius Caesar (100 – 44 BC.) had just reformed the calendar that regulated Roman time (after which it became known as the Julian calendar) when he was assassinated, and it was in tribute to him that Quintilis –  the month of the murdered emperor’s birth – was renamed Julius (or Iuluis), the Latin for “July.”

Good Sunday Morning To All My Friends! It’s Been Way Too Long!

Good Morning, my sweets! How are you doing today? Me, well the pic says it all, lol! It was a fantastic morning till I heard the News. They are forecasting another day in the 100’s. This is our fourth day of 100 degree weather and it is suppose to last all week. But I consider myself very fortunate. I think about all those poor souls in Ohio, Washington and Virginia. All of them without their electricity, no a/c, no fans, the food going to ruin, it is simply awful. At least I am fortunate enough to have electricity and fans. My A/C is still tore up. While I was in the hospital, someone came out and looked at it. They determined I needed a whole new system, oh, brother! Is there any rich, single male Witches out there, lol! Just kidding or am I? I am just tired of the heat.

After being in the hospital for heat stroke, I am not suppose to be in the heat at all. I have tired to do the blog, honestly I have. But when it is too hot in the office, I start it and then I have to quit. I just can’t stand the heat at all now. So now you know where I have been, since the blog hasn’t been updated daily. I am going to try to get up earlier in the mornings and perhaps it will get done.

I wanted you to know that I haven’t run off and deserted you. I appreciate your patience with me and also all of your well wishes. It means a lot to me. Perhaps one of these days, we will get back to normal (whatever that is, lol!). Anyway I am going to run for now and get busy. I hope you have a great weekend.
