Earth Thought for the Day 3/9

Earth Thought for the Day

“The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst.
The rivers carry our canoes, and feed our children.
If we sell you our land, you must remember,
and teach your children,
that the rivers are our brothers and yours,
and you must henceforth give the rivers the kindness
you would give any brother.”

Affirmation for 3/9

I give my emotions, feelings, mistakes, and painful memories over to my higher power to handle. I walk in faith and stay focused only on what my higher power wants for me, and that is prosperity.

Wiccan Prayer for 3/9 – For Fidelity To One’s Religion

Tuesday For Fidelity
To One’s Religion
I call upon you, my Lord and Lady, to
grant me the strength to remain forever
faithful to the teaching of Wicca/Witchcraft.
Please help me to keep all of the promises I
have made to you, my eternal parents, as
well as those I have made to my brothers
and sisters, especially those of my coven,
as well as those of my Solitary brothers
and sisters.

A Sparkling Winter Charm for the Home

A Sparkling Winter Charm for the Home

Gather the following supplies:

  • A small tube of iridescent glitter

  • A basket (your choice on the color and style)

  • A square of felt (to line the basket and help keep the glitter in its place)

  • A dozen pinecones

Place the felt into the bottom of an attractive basket. Next, gather and arrange your pinecones in the felt lined basket. Hold your hands over the pinecones and imagine the natural elements of earth, air, fire and water swirling around you. Now picture this energy being funneled down into your hands and then sprinkle a bit of the iridescent glitter on top of the pinecones as you repeat this charm three times:

Pinecones are a natural symbol for fertility.

I enchant these to bring us good luck and prosperity

By the winter winds that blow, and the sparkling snow that falls,

I call for joy and abundance to come bless us, one and all.

Place your basket on the hearth or use as a centerpiece this winter Enjoy!

Cards of Love Dream Spell

1. Remove all four playing cards corresponding to the gender of the person you desire from a deck of playing cards: kings for men and queens for women.

2. Place the four cards under your pillow to dream of your true love.

If for any reason, one card, not necessarily a court card, holds special romantic significance for you, substitute that card instead.

To Form an Incense Cone

  1. Dissolve gum arabica in water, approximately one part powder to two parts water.

  2. Allow the material to soak for approximately three hours.

  3. In the meantime, pulverize the herbal material to be used until it is finely powdered (using mortar and pestle or other grinding tool).

  4. Mix this powder into the liquid until it can be shaped into small cones.

  5. Allow to dry completely in a warm area.

Casting Spells by Burning Herbs

Magick spells are cast by burning herbs (incense), thus releasing their magick power into the atmosphere (fumigation).

One of the most ancient methods of casting spells is consciously, carefully and deliberately  burning herbs. This method incorporates all four primal elements into one spell. By applying the power of fire, herbal power (which has been nourished by Earth and by water), is transformed into smoke (air) and dispersed into the atmosphere to provide magickal solutions and fulfill magickal desires. If you burn incense on a metal pan or burner, then you incorporate what many consider to be the fifth element, metal, into your spell as well.

Modern incense frequently taken the form of sticks and cones, which require a little technical know=how. However, incense is an ancient, ancient art. If cave people had the technology to create fine, viable incense, of course you do, too. The material original incense was loose dried herbal material, ground and powdered. Most magick spells assume incense will be in this form.

Mortars and pestles are ancient magickal, medical and culinary tools. They may be used to break down and blend herbal material. Once upon a time, incense was created by repeated grinding with a mortar and pestle, and then sifting with a sieve (also an ancient magick tool). However, if you desire the fine powder that many spells specify, a coffee or spice grinder, particularly an old-fashioned manual one, can make life easier.

If you prefer stick incense, blanks may be purchased and doctored to your taste.
