The significance of this day

Day Cipactli (Crocodile) is governed by Tonacatecuhtli, Lord of Nurturance, as its provider of tonalli (Shadow Soul) life energy. Cipactli is an auspicious day, signifying advancement and honor. It depicts energy and work, rewards and recognition. A good day for beginnings. 

The thirteen day period (trecena) that starts with day 1-Xochitl (Flower) is ruled by Huehuecoyotl, Old Coyote, the Trickster, god of deception. This trecena signifies the sacred role of the jester: revealing the truth of the old ways by treating them as irreverantly as the gods do, the jester treats nothing as sacred and so points out the sacredness of everything. These are 13 days profoundly influenced by creativity and playfulness: music, dance, art and poetry are simply masks worn by the jester to tear away the away the masks of civilization. The trickster-jester-clown is the final mask of human beings: at one with the divine absurdity of the world, the mortal creator moves toward becoming an immortal force of nature. A time when power will be available to you for positive changes in your life, victory, health, and success. Contact between the higher self and the unconscious. Wholeness, power, elemental force, sword of flame, cleansing fire.

Sunrise drives away the fears of night. Open your inner source of creativity. Let the energy of nature flow through you. The source of your difficulties is that you have forgotten to pay attention to your creative talents and are giving too much significance to surrounding circumstances. Be more relaxed and joyful about life. Do everything in a way which gives you the opportunity to create, to use your imagination and really enjoy whatever you are doing. Then the problems disturbing you may simply disappear and vanish into thin air. If you feel tired and at a low ebb, this rune reminds you that your body needs to restore its own energy balance, so try to relax and be less stressed out.

General Meaning: Great receptivity attracts exceptional results. The natural responsiveness of pure Yin energy brings about success through support and perseverance, rather than through bold action. Thus, the wise person demonstrates strength like a powerful but gentle mare. This hexagram, consisting of all yin lines, represents a power of the feminine principle no longer honored in our modern world, but such receptivity is most auspicious.

The receptive force is sensual as well as powerful, and it can be missed by too much talk and planning. When spring comes, does the grass plan to grow? This is a time to concentrate on realities rather than potentials — how to respond to a situation rather than how to direct it. A mature mare lets herself be guided, and is skilled at graceful acceptance. In a strong spiritual way, her quiet contribution is most effective and brings success.

The older cards were never so explicit about what the Magus was doing. It’s best to keep your imagination open with this card.
