Dragons of the Planets

Dragons of the Planets

The dragons representing the planets are used basically for performing ceremonies or rituals on certain days and in certain hours, to acquire certain physical or personality traits. If this is to be part of your ritual methods, I suggest you carefully read a chart for both day and night planetary hours. Remember to adjust for daylight savings time.

Some magicians feels that planetary dragons are only elemental energies and not specific beings of any kind. That has not been my experience. That is like saying there are only gnomes and no faeries. I suppose it is all in one’s perception of other levels of being.

The idea behind using planetary days and hours is that you are connecting with a stronger energy for use in your rituals. As the elements are the substance of the universe, the planets are more concerned with action and process. Only seven astrological bodies were used by the ancients: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. These correspond to the days of the week and the hours of each day. To use this system find the planet that correspond to the type of ritual you plan to do . Then select the proper day and hour in which to do it.

The waxing or increasing Moon is the time for spells of increase, building and growth, while the waning or decreasing Moon is the time for decrease, destruction, removal, and binding. For the Sun the bright daylight hours are used for increasing magick, with noon being strongest. For decreasing magick, perform during the evening hours, with midnight being strongest. Each planet has a dragon ritual chant for the physical, mental-emotional, and spiritual aspects of growth. These chants are to be used in conjunction with candles of the appropriate color. Consider carefully the reason behind your choice of planet characteristics before you do these rituals. And never go to extremes by constantly performing the same rituals for the same characteristics. You can get overloaded and create worse problems for yourself if you do. An example would be using the planet Mars too much; this would eventually produce negative aspects, such as an explosive temper and impatience.

Carve your desire into the candle with your ritual dagger. Anoint the candle with a planetary oil, from the wick to the bottom to bring something to you, from the bottom to the wick to move something away from you.

Also part of each ritual should be the choosing of planetary herbs as an offering to the dragon of that planet. You can enhances the power more by surrounding the candle with stones chosen for their specific energies. All planetary candles should be left on the altar to burn completely out.

Use the Basic Dragon Ritual as a foundation ritual and insert the chant for your chosen planet in the proper places. Invite the dragons of that planet to join you in dance and ritual; if you do not extend an invitation, why should they bother to join you? Chose music that reflects what you feel about the chosen planet. Let your feelings be sensitive to the atmosphere around you so that you will be aware of the dragons’ arrival and participation.

When you reach the part of the ritual where you insert specific spell workings, carve your desire into the candle; anoint it with the oil. Light the candle and surround it with stones. Say the planetary chant. Finish by chanting the Charm of Making:

“By the glow of Sun the power’s begun, by Moonbeam’s light the spell is right, to create desire by Earth and Fire, Water, Air, make magick fair. Powerful Charm of Making, Creative magick undertaking. Be Formed!”

When finished with the spell working, complete the Basic Dragon Ritual.

Dragons of Darkness

Dragons of Darkness

The dragons of darkness, or dark of the Spirit, rule negative power currents. Their color is sometimes black; a female energy, they are considered moist and cold. Positive association of darkness are: all forms of night, the Moon and stars, the pentacle disk, the dragon pentacle, the black altar candle, the staff, the salt dish, rest, dreams, psychic guidance, balancing karma, seeking the truth, helpful dark magick. The negative association are: deep anger, hate, fear, unjustified revenge, working against karmic patterns, mentally distorting psychic messages so that you hear what you want to hear, harmful dark magick.

In Sanskrit, the dragons of darkness and chaos, or unformed matter, were given the title of tad ekam (That One). These dragons exist in a place where time has no authority, where physical light and darkness are actually not yet separated, where Primordial Matter waits to be formed into physical manifestations. As with the dragons of light, dragons of darkness hold within their jaws a precious stone of fulfillment. Dragons of darkness rest with their tails in their mouths, as do those of light. However, when they release the tail, they break down forms of energy; we would call this destroying. This dismantling of energy is necessary so that the dragons of light can re-create it in a new form.

THE LAST DRAGON

THE LAST DRAGON

by

Gerald del Campo

In the land of Oz lived a great Wizard named Albert Creemshaw.

He was loved by everyone, and became quite popular when he

destroyed the Last Dragon in a great battle between the forces of

oppression and the powers of Freedom.

When the villagers heard that the monster had been killed they

rushed the mountain side where the Dragon had its nest and

proceeded to break the eggs; thereby insuring the destruction of

the creatures forever.

What they did not know, was that Albert had snuck one of the eggs

out before the villagers got there. He cared for it in his Castle

and through his great magical ability he was able to genetically

alter the dragon fetus so that it would soon be the watcher of

the people; a symbol of freedom and great strength. But he kept

this a secret from the people because they were not ready yet for

the trial which awaited them; they would just have ganged up and

tried to kill the Little Dragon. He became a Hermit and loved

the little creature.

One day the Wizard received a message from his God that he would

have to move on, and release his body the way that a butterfly

sheds its cocoon. So Albert called for the Council of The Sword

and Shield, a ruling body of his most trusted students, and told

them about the little dragon. At first they were repulsed by the

idea of bringing up the offspring of the object of their misery;

but the Magician persuaded them by telling them that the little

dragon would soon be the symbol of freedom and strength: they

swore by the Warrior Gods they would care for it.

The following evening, while the Full Moon shined on the peaceful

waters of Oz, Albert and his God left forever.

Upon finding their Master dead, the Council released the

information about the Little Dragon to the people of Oz. The

people of Oz loved Albert as much as he loved them, and after

they saw how fragile this poor orphaned creature was they decided

amongst themselves that they would honor those raising the little

dragon, for the dragon would represent all of the things Albert

himself stood for.

Things went well, for a while. The favoritism displayed by the

people of Oz towards the Priests and Priestesses that cared for

the Dragon created turmoil: all of the sudden there were power

struggles within the Council, its members were fighting over who

would supervise the education of the Little Dragon, who would

feed it, who would educate it. They set up rules specifically

designed to make it impossible for others to reach the grades

appropiate to caring for the Dragon so that only a few on top

could reap the benefits associated with caring for the Little

Dragon.

One would say: “I have risked my life and given all so that the

little dragon could have food”, and his ego was pleased. The

other would say: “While you first despised the dragon I stood

fast in my duty to care for it, for I have kept my word”, and her

ego was satisfied.

The people were so impressed by the “devotion and selflessness”

of The Council that certain members were given gifts of silver,

gold, spices, and women. Treated as Gods for their sense of

duty.

Everyone at The Council became so preoccupied with the power

struggle, and with keeping their peers in lower positions that

they forgot about the little, fragile Dragon. When they finally

gained their senses, and returned to the Castle where it was

guarded they found it dead, starved from attention and

sustenance. They then realized that empty, lost feeling Albert

himself would have felt, if HE had killed the Last Dragon.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Thursday, Feb. 16th

Put some of those recent challenges behind you as the cosmos gives you something to cheer about when Mercury unites with healing-master Chiron (6:15AM PST) shortly before Mercury teams up in a supportive, 60-degree link with King of the Gods Jupiter (8:08AM PST). Considering that the Moon is still having a joy-fest in adventuresome Sagittarius, this morning’s Mercury-Chiron and Mercury-Jupiter contacts are a pleasure-inducing duo. Give worries and tensions the old-heave. Enjoy your favorite games and sports for an exhilarating change of pace. Think more about pursuing mind-enhancing literary and educational projects especially as the Sun and Moon collaborate well during a supportive, 60-degree liaison (5:09PM PST) and as the largest two celestial bodies in our solar system – the Sun and Jupiter – forge an illuminating contra-parallel (9:02PM PST). However, this latter aspect actually happens right at the close of a void lunar uncertainty cycle in Sagittarius – running from 8:04PM PST until 9:04PM PST. Don’t overdo a good thing during the lunar twilight zone. Once the void time-span is over, Capricorn Moon is your lunar presence for the next 2+ days. Place a serious focus on climbing the ladder of success within your professional realm. You will have some celestial back-up to assist you on both Friday and Saturday.

Moon Phase for February 14 – Last Quarter (Waning/90-45 degrees)

Moon Phases By Jan Spiller:

Last Quarter (waning/90-45 degrees)

February 14, 2012 — The time of reaping is at hand. There is a feeling of completion infused into the atmosphere during the Last Quarter Moon. The opportunity opens to recognize how far you’ve come in various parts of your life. This is not a good time for new beginnings, but rather a reflective period suited to evaluating how you have been using your time and what has been accomplished. Issues of authority may arise. This Moon phase supports taking responsibility for actively tying up the loose ends of projects that are already underway.
