Your Daily Horoscopes for May 30th

The cosmic scene is a bit quieter today because there are no major aspects occurring. Nevertheless, this has been a busy spring already and there’s more action coming up, so it makes sense to use this Memorial Day (in the U.S.) to do some chores and catch up on our rest. Fortunately, the grounded Taurus Moon encourages us to be content with life. With four planets now visiting the sign of the Bull, it should be easier than usual to find peace.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Instead of aimlessly waiting to see where your day goes, create a basic plan upon rising today. It won’t be difficult to balance your social activities with a few nagging chores as long as you keep your to-do list very short. Something fun may come up but you might need to say no if you haven’t managed your time well. Thankfully, you can circumvent this all-too-familiar routine by simplifying your day and fulfilling your commitments early on.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

You can turn this into a very relaxing day, even if you have several things you need to accomplish. The Moon’s conjunction with sweet Venus in sensible Taurus helps you maintain a positive attitude, even while circumstances test you. Not much can deter you now, for you’re able to take everything in stride. Your mission today is simple: enjoy yourself as much as you can.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

The cluster of planets in your 12th House of the Unknown indicates that someone might be hiding the truth from you — or, at least, that’s what you believe. Your mind latches on to a mystery now, leading you to conclude that others are withholding important information. Although your suspicions are largely unfounded, a miscommunication can still send you on a strange detour. Thankfully, untangling the puzzle will be easy enough with a bit of concentration.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

It’s not about the quantity of your closest comrades; it’s the quality of the relationships that sets you apart now. Fortunately, your social life should be pretty stable now with the nurturing Moon in your 11th House of Community. It’s important for you to feel emotionally secure and it makes you happy to be able to lean on a few very solid friends. Bask in the glow of camaraderie as you spend special time with those who support your dreams.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Someone close to you may ask for your help now because you come across as a responsible person who can hold your position with grace when things get tough. But you don’t need to have any special answers; just being there is enough. Your contribution is to be a good listener while sorting through the questions. Even if you are uncertain of the best approach, your relentless loyalty can make a world of difference.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You aren’t listening to what others want today because you have a specific idea of your perfect day and you’re already on your way. However, your partner or friends might not understand your current choices, and things can get complicated if you don’t take the time to explain yourself. Keep in mind that your singular focus on your goals might prevent you from seeing the obvious. There’s no need to push yourself; slowing down enables you to enjoy the good things in your life right now.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You might think that you know what needs to be done now to make your partner happier or your friends feel better. But over-personalizing someone else’s problems can be frustrating and could make your day less enjoyable. Linking your satisfaction to others is tricky business; it may leave you feeling depleted and won’t necessarily help them. Your smartest strategy is to be a sympathetic listener and offer support without attempting to fix anything.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Four planets in stubborn Taurus are activating your 7th House of Relationships, and no matter how confident you feel today, it’s wise to remember that your point of view is only one out of many. It’s not that you have drawn an incorrect conclusion; it’s just that there are multiple roads leading to an infinite number of destinations. Reality is not as rigid as it currently appears. Be flexible in your thinking now, for new possibilities will appear sooner than you expect.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

If you want to do something special today, you may become so obsessed with making it happen that you’re limited by your goals, rather than inspired by them. However, the current situation could play out much differently. If you remember to use your common sense then you’ll be more willing to shift your approach. Altering the direction of your arrow while it’s in flight is not only possible — it could be your smartest move.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

It’s time to shatter another Capricorn myth. You may be the best planners in the zodiac, yet you also know how to live in the moment. Although you’re no stranger to delaying personal gratification when necessary, the current emphasis on your 5th House of Spontaneity indicates that you’re ready to put pleasure ahead of responsibility today. Don’t worry about what anyone else is thinking; just experience the joy of this moment as if you’ve been rehearsing for it your entire life.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Having a solid home and family life can be a major blessing with the Moon in your 4th House of Roots. However, you also may experience complicated emotions about your obligations that restrain your freedom. Domestic relationships can feel like a double-edged sword as their responsibilities go hand-in-hand with their rewards. Tread carefully and don’t make any foolish declarations of independence that result from your frustration, or you may have to eat your words tomorrow.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Your appointment with destiny is on schedule, even if it’s not on your calendar today. You might be hesitant to make significant changes in your life now, especially if the major pieces are working. However, you feel a growing pressure from within and realize that sooner or later you will have to acknowledge what’s in your heart, even if it messes with the stability of your personal life.

Lemuria – The Romans set aside a week for appeasing the lemures (the ghosts of one’s ancestors). At midnight, the head of the household performed a ritual to summon hem, by washing his hands in spring water, casting away as many black beans as there were residents in the household, washing his hands again and clashing bronze cymbals to summon the ghosts. This ritual was repeated on the 11th and the 13th. St Christopher – This saint, portrayed in the Eastern church as a man with the head of a dog, was supposedly descended from a legendary race of giants with human bodies and canine heads. When he converted to Christianity, he was given the name Christ-bearer to show he carried the divinity within. This became the source of the story of how he carried the Christ Child across a raging river in a storm, thus he is the patron of travellers, who often wear St Christopher medals for protection.

A French scholar, Saintyves, whose work is cited by McNeill, thought Christopher was a successor of Anubis, Hermes and Hercules. He notes that he has two festivals on May 9th (in the Eastern church) and July 25th (in the Western church) and that these dates correspond to the setting and rising of Sirius, the Dog Star.

At Guadalajara in Mexico, porters solicit the help of St Christopher with this prayer:

Dichoso Cristobalazo – Fortunate Great Christopher,
Santazo de cuerpo entero – mighty saint with sturdy body
Y no como otros santitos – and not like other saints
Que ni se ven en el cielo – Who aren’t even noticed in heaven.

Herucleo Cristobalazo – Herculean Great Christopher
Forzudo como un Sanson – brawny as a Samson
Con tu enorme cabezon – with your huge great head
Y tu nervoso pescuezo – and your sinewy neck

Hazme grueso y vigoroso – make me stout and strong
Hombrazo de cuerpo entero – a real man with sturdy body,
Y no come estos tipitos – and not like those feeble fellows
Que casi besan el suelo – who all but kiss the ground

NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple .
